چکیده

The Cognitive Agent Specification Language (CASL) is a framework for specifying and verifying complex communicating multiagent systems. In this paper, we extend CASL to incorporate a formal model of means-end reasoning suitable for a multiagent context. In particular, we define a simple model of cooperative ability, give a definition of rational plans, and show how an agent’s intentions play a role in determining her next actions. This bridges the gap between intentions to achieve a goal and intentions to act. We also define a notion of subjective plan execution and show that in the absence of interference, an agent that is able to achieve a goal, intends to do so, and is acting rationally and subjectively executing plans, will eventually achieve it.

The Cost of Rational Agency

The rational agency assumption limits systems to domains of application that have never been observed. Moreover, representing agents as being rational in the sense of maximising utility subject to some well specified constraints renders software systems virtiually unscalable. These properties of the rational agency assumption are shown to be unnecessary in representations or analogies of market...

Towards a new model of speculative bubbles: nonparametric test with an application to the Tunisian Stock Index

Bubbles in asset prices have fascinated researchers in finance. Identify asset bubbles, by circumstances, on the stock market has been a growing number of research theoretical and empirical. On a theoretical level, it was assumed that the price dynamics reflect irrational behavior of economic agents and, therefore, should be excluded from a deal with the truly rational economic agents Burmeiste...

THÈSE Pour l’obtention du grade de DOCTEUR D’UNIVERSITÉ Discipline: INFORMATIQUE

The goal of this thesis is to study the issue of rational BDI learning agents, situated in a multi-agent system. A rational agent can be defined as a cognitive entity endowed with intentional attitudes, e.g., beliefs, desires, and intentions (BDI). First, we study the concepts of agency and practical reasoning, allowing agents to induce from their intentional attitudes, a behavior identified as...

An architecture for rational agents interacting with complex environments

Artificial Intelligence encompasses the enterprise of building an intelligent agent. To this purpose, the notions of agency and intelligence need to be precisely defined. Much to our demise, intelligence has proved to be hard to grasp in a formal way. To overcome this, Stuart Russell— among others—propounded rational agency as an alternative characterization for intelligent agency. In his own w...
